Ray Porter was perfect for the Bobs!Okay sweet so they have already chosen the Narrator of Outland. Audio books are what makes that possible.Hi Dennis! It’s very refreshing. Outland is an Audible Original written by Dennis E. Taylor and performed by Ray Porter. Or, alternatively, licensed ‘universe’ fiction like the endless supply of Star Wars universe novels. As to the Bobs winning too easily, not to worry. but I didn’t get it rolling.Later, I published three books on other topics under the name ‘Edward Bristol’. Just a matter of putting fingers (and possibly forehead) to keyboard.Dude, you need to quit the day job, and stick to writing. Can’t wait to hear “Searching for Bender!”I thought it was fantastic, well written. The books being in Ray Porters voice makes all the difference. I’m working on Singularity Trap edits right now. Things to consider, will they know where major supply areas on origin are to raid?
Outland isn’t on audible so iv sent a request asking if they’ll be getting it any time soon Fingers crossed . I've already signed up to be alerted by Amazon when Dennis releases the next book. They tended to blend into 2 for me. The hope of us starting over on a fresh new world (and maybe building up civilization right this time), leaves the reader feeling hopeful not sad at the end. So…it’s June 3 2017. The audiobook is every bit as good as those. I thoroughly enjoyed the first. Win-win. I ended up listening to Outland in its entirety on the plane. Sorry for the stupid long comment. . I love to see the college student introducted to “adulting” and the positive way they are taking to it. Give up your day job and write more BOBs please I cant get enough. Have you ever read/listened to it?No, but I think the reference was mentioned in the “Fans of the Bobiverse” FB group.Hey just finished a reread of Outland and now I find myself wanting more.
It reminds me of a classic SF and modern topic mashup, kinda like a love-child between Pratchett/Baxter's Long Earth and classic Heinlein such as Tunnel in the Sky.If this is Taylor's first novel, I'm still hella impressed. Still, it didn't really matter & other characters popped well enough. Part of it was Audible narrator whose voice was simply too heavy for college kids but the other part was that main characters were very shallow and didn't act like scientists would.Competent book with an interesting premise was greatly weakened for me by a farcical "goon" subplot.Fun book ! Martian- Artemis was average. I’ve discovered that there are circumstances where audio books are ideal, like while running or exercising. All in all, this is a good first installment in D.E. There are many similarities. I read Wildside because of this book I like it as well but IMHO this book was better. My first association with that is “War of the Worlds” somewhere “last century” ;). Unfortunately not recommended.I've finished maybe 2/3 of the book and simply couldn't continue. The first part of the story was pretty naff - low-rent writing and too many nerdy clichés, but then bang! Hope I don’t forget about it I seem to do that with books that take a while to be published.Join the mailing list.
I can’t wait for the sequel, but I will “make do” with the Bobverse. I only listen to books when I’m on the road for work (4 hours or more). It’s a little far fetched, but sooooo much fun. Had no idea how new it was at the time and that I would love it so much and then have to wait for the following books. Originality is a tough category for Outland. Taylor does an excellent job of keeping the reader interested while the primary, time-constrained plot, matures. I tried to get this book but the link doesn’t work. It explores the idea of parallel or “stepwise” worlds and explores some similar ideas. We’d love your help. Also as audios. Outland is an enjoyable casual read. As you may know by reading this blog or listening and watching my other channels, I’m a fan of Dennis E. Taylors Bobiverse trilogy. And it was!!
Dennis E. Taylor is a ... Outland: Self-published and then "un-published" in early 2018 ISBN 150563119X: 2016 We are Legion (We are Bob) Bobiverse Series, Book 1 ISBN 1680680587: 2017 For We Are Many: Bobiverse Series, Book 2 I also appreciate the ratio of “hard science” to flowing humorous narrative; I think you’ve hit a magic balance there. Just curious but I seem to enjoy your books to a healthy degree, and was hoping you might have some suggestions on some descent books to read.
